Arlene Lochridge was born in Washington state, and moved with her family to Southern California as a teenager.  She graduated from Vista High School in Vista, California.

Arlene holds a B.A. degree from San Diego State University and an M.A. degree from California American University. Retired from twenty-seven years as a teacher and consultant, she now devotes time to many community organizations, as well as her church.  In addition to writing, Arlene enjoys reading, talking and socializing, junking, jigsaw puzzling, interior decorating, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.  When not in their hometown of Escondido, California, Arlene and her husband spend their time in Bay View, Washington.

The manuscript for A Fish Out of Water won Editor’s First Choice Submission award at the San Diego Writers’ Conference in January 2008. The book was a finalist in San Diego Book Awards, Biography category 2011, and chosen as one of only three finalists in the Biography category for the 2011 Indie Book Awards.
